Owl. But which one..
uuuh….it’s an owl. gorgeous but no sea bird…..
Thanks but why on the open ocean far away from a land
Definitely a lost Owl
Looks like anyway thanks for trying to help me
Where did you see this bird?
On the Indian Ocean 350 NM from land ,very interesting .later on she was traveling with us for two days.i was taking good care of her giving water and some bread ( no luck with bread )
I’ll search around and see if I can figure it out
I have been looking also in many atlases and book ,and nothing
WOW ! that was fast, my expert birders are too cool ! It is a short-eared owl
Oh nice ,you can easy see she has short ears .but what she is doing over the ocean ,could u ask him pls
Will do. Anymore details you can provide will help. Is she still with you?
No no ,she left us around 20 NM from land
I thing it is a problem with climate changing .i have seen polar bears fighting with the brown grizzlies around arctic circle
That’s just crazy!
Sent the link to my birding group. Let’s see if anyone recognizes him. But a local will really help.
Oh my Jacek, the birding expert is crazy about this sighting. As you can imagine, it’s quite a rare sighting you had of this owl. You wouldn’t happen to have any mice on ship you can feed it do you? Is it still around? How about coordinates where you saw it, we can log it on an international birding website for all to know of its whereabouts.
I can easily find out coordinates, where we saw her ,I remember very well those days .i can do it tomorrow ,our nav computers are off now
Tomorrow I will give u coordinates ,in my place in Egipt is 2 am ,time to sleep soon ,need work tomorrow .
Wait a sec .i have coordinates .
5*5.275 N
55*8.871E
And look on my new post with the map ,thx
I thought you were sleeping !! LOL
Later ,nice to talk ,u know I am seating all days on the boat
Isn’t technology grand? Truly makes the world a global community. I bet there are days you’re very busy and others rather quiet. Glad you passed Somalia safely.
Is not like everybody thinks ,we didn’t see any pirates ,but we have been well prepared ,even we had two security person on board.Eveline and Dolores .i made them by myself .you can look at the picture
Here is an info page on this owl. My guess is that a wind got her off course while migrating south for the winter. This link includes a range map for this owl.

And the owl probably needs some raw meat…
